Why Choose Us

Hi I’m Dr Tamara Bugembe, as a children’s doctor I come across hundreds of families struggling to juggle it all. I set up HB after speaking to many parents and helping many of my own friends with their new babies.

Life with a new-born doesn’t leave much time for a lot of things on our to do lists. Every now and then we need to relax and reset. But finding the right help for your family, with trusted and experienced helpers is not always easy. Hopefully our flexible and reliable service is the right solution for you.

Testimonial

Leaving the special care baby unit with twins was very scary, knowing there was someone to call for help, gave us the confidence to go home.

Helper Bees and Postnatal depression

Post-natal depression affects whole families, and with one in 7 women being affected, but the impact of PND trickles into all our lives. In addition to the women that are tragically affected, this illness affects relationships, the brain development of the children and the productivity and work of the supporting partner. At its worst, postnatal depression can result in suicide of affected mothers and the death of their babies.

A large motivator behind the Helper Bee service was to support families with new-borns to prevent factors that are known to be associated with increased risk of PND: sleep deprivation and stress. And to help identify mothers and fathers suffering with postnatal depression and sign post them to the right agency.
